Northern Law Firm, Amarillo
After graduating Texas Tech Law, Van Northern gained extensive experience in state and federal litigation. In 1989, he began Northern Law Firm in downtown Amarillo. Since then, Northern has represented Fortune 500 Companies and multinational corporations in state and federal courts, including the federal bankruptcy courts, and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Northern also does extensive work for smaller companies and individuals who have contract disputes or claims against creditors, banks, and insurance companies, including bankruptcy courts in Amarillo, Lubbock, Wichita Falls, and Austin.
The Texas law firm now has offices in Lubbock and Amarillo to better serve our clients in the Panhandle and South Plains of Texas.
Van Northern
Mr. Northern earned two undergraduate degrees from SMU while competing on the swim team, boxing, and debate team. He is a former NCAA Division I head coach in swimming. He earned a law degree from Texas Tech Law School, and was licensed by the State of Texas in 1984.
He has extensive experience representing clients in Texas state and federal courts, including school districts, hospital districts, banks, and international corporations including Fortune 500 companies in jury trials, as both plaintiff and defense counsel. On the debtor side of bankruptcy, he has filed thousands of bankruptcies for his clients, including chapters 7, 13, 12, and 11 of the bankruptcy code.
He also provides consultation and litigation assistance to law firms seeking bankruptcy counsel. Van has successfully appeared before the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and understands the application of constitutional law and due process in both the civil and criminal arenas.
